Sun Palace vs. Beach Palace. We are planning a trip to Cancun very shortly. We can't decide between the Beach Palace and Sun Palace. We have stayed at the Cozumel Palace twice, so we know that the Palace resorts are wonderful in general. We have read several comments that people were bored at the Sun Palace, especially at night.

Unlike Cozumel where the current gives you a "free ride", you actually have to swim the reef in AC. There weren't as many deep walls or dives and there weren't a lot of big critters to see. The food on AC is good and you can walk to almost anywhere via the beach. Food cost is maybe 10-15% more than Cozumel.
To me, saying Cancun is touristy and Americanized is an understatement. Probably the most Americanized in Mexico. Playa is also Americanized but easier to get away and explore the nearby area. Cozumel, a great choice for any water related activities. You might consider splitting the time between Playa and Cozumel.

Save. IMO, at most resorts, it is not worth it. However, at Secrets Aura, I believe it is worth it if you would like to have a more relaxed and upscale experience. The Preferred area has its own very nice pool with ample loungers and its own swim up bar. The Preferred beach area has nicer, cushioned loungers and prompt service.
